A590 closed for several hours overnight due to crash between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge that saw cars destroyed

A major road in South Cumbria was closed last night (April 12) because of a crash.

Cumbria Police closed the A590 between Haverthwaite and Newby Bridge due to the crash. The eastbound carriageway was forced to close, but police confirmed the westbound was running normally.

It was anticipated that the eastbound carriageway would be closed for a number of hours because of a “complicated recovery and tree removal.”
