A592 at Troutbeck reopens following serious crash

The A592 Kirkstone Pass has reopened in both directions after earlier accident investigation work from Townhead Brow (Troutbeck) to the Hartsop turn-off (Hartsop). This followed a serious collision which happened at around 6pm on Sunday, affecting traffic heading between Windermere and Penrith.

It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the incident. National roads information service Inrix reported on Sunday that traffic was coping well on the major tourist route.

National roads information service Inrix reported at 11.54pm last night (Sunday): “A592 in both directions closed due to serious accident from Townhead Brow (Troutbeck) to the Hartsop turn-off (Hartsop). Traffic is coping well. “

At 4.35am today, they updated: “A592 Kirkstone Pass in both directions reopened, earlier accident investigation work from Townhead Brow (Troutbeck) to the Hartsop turn-off (Hartsop). Following a serious accident which happened at around 6pm affecting traffic heading between Windermere and Penrith.”
