A66 blocked outside Centre Parcs after two lorries crash

The A66 in Cumbria is partially blocked after a collision involving two lorries.

Emergency services have been called to the scene outside Centre Parcs this morning (January 14).

Pictures shared on social media show damage caused to the front of one of the lorries.

The windscreen was left shattered and the front of the cab crushed.

The incident happened on the eastbound carriageway between Penrith and Kirkby and is causing delays in the area.

It was first reported at around 9am.

Cumbria Road Watch tweeted: “A66 partially blocked and very slow traffic outside Center Parcs (Whinfell) due to a collision involving two lorries. Expect delays.”

Traffic monitoring service Inrix reports: “A66 partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident, two lorries involved near Centre Parcs.”
