
A five-year-old boy is in a critical condition after a crash in Maryport yesterday (May 7).
The crash happened at about 4.35pm yesterday when a black BMW hit the five-year-old. He was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where his condition is said to be critical but stable.
The driver of the BMW, a 35-year-old woman from Maryport was uninjured. The road was closed to allow a forensic collision investigation to be carried out.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson for the force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision yesterday (May 7) at around 4:35pm involving a car and a pedestrian on Ennerdale Road, Maryport.
“The collision involved a black BMW and a 5-year-old boy. The boy was flown to Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where his condition is described as critical but stable.
“The driver of the BMW, a 35-year-old woman from Maryport was uninjured.”
