Boy dies after being hit by car on A595 at Waberthwaite

A 14-year-old has died after a mountain bike collided with a car on the A595.

The fatal collision on the A595 at Prospect Hill, Waberthwaite occurred between a Kia Sorento and a mountain bike. The rider of the biker, the 14-year-old, has sadly been confirmed to have died.

The rider died at the scene as police received reports of the collision at 8.06pm yesterday (April 8). It is believed that the 14-year-old is from the local area.

Police officers are now appealing for any witnesses who have details about the incident.

A spokesperson from Cumbria Police said: “Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A595 are appealing for witnesses. At 8.06pm yesterday (8 April) police received a report of a collision on the A595 at Prospect Hill, Waberthwaite. The collision involved a silver Kia Sorento and a mountain bike.

“The rider of the mountain bike, a 14-year-old boy from the local area, died at the scene. Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed this incident to contact them.”
