A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in a stabbing in Carlisle.
Emergency services were called to Carlyle’s Court in the city centre at 8.48pm last night (September 18) following a report that a man had been stabbed.
The victim, a man in his 20s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of first responders and medical staff. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.
Earlier this afternoon three men were arrested on on suspicion of assisting an offender
Cumbria Police later confirmed a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody for questioning along with the other three suspects arrested in the early hours.
Detective Superintendent David Pattinson said: “We can confirm a further arrest has been made in this investigation but a number of active lines of inquiry are ongoing.
“We continue to appeal for the public’s help and support and we are still appealing for anyone with information to contact us on the numbers below.”
