Dad-of-two killed in Botchergate Carlisle crash named for first time

An elderly man who died in a Carlisle city centre crash has been named by police.

Geoffrey Brown was killed following a collision between his Honda Jazz and a Ford S-Max on Botchergate at around 10.15am yesterday (March 22).

The 83-year-old, of Borland Avenue, Carlisle, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Brown is father to two children, Geoff and Jacqueline.

Cumbria Police said the driver of the Ford was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours for investigation works but has since reopened.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses and no arrests have been made.
