Intro to Watercolours Workshop

This two-session introductory workshop is designed for anyone interested in the captivating art of watercolour painting. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some prior experience, this course will guide you through the essential materials and foundational techniques of watercolour, equipping you with the skills to create your own simple yet beautiful artworks. Throughout the workshop, you’ll learn about various watercolour tools, brushes, and papers, along with practical techniques such as washes, blending, and layering. Each session will focus on hands-on learning, allowing you to experiment with colours and develop your personal style. By the end of the workshop, you’ll gain the confidence to continue painting independently and feel prepared to attend more advanced watercolour courses.

About your tutor

Helen Thompson is a Lancaster based visual artist who creates paintings and drawings inspired by the body, movement and embodied experience. In 2022, Helen was awarded Arts Council England funding for her visual arts project ProPriOception. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions, delivered workshops throughout the North West, and led several Community Arts projects. Helen is passionate about fostering creativity and confidence in participants and is dedicated to fostering accessibility in her workshops, creating a welcoming space for everyone. She holds a BA(hons) in Art Practice & Theory from Lancaster University, and a Level 3 Award in Education & Training.

Cost £90 per person – Additional Material cost: £10 per person (payable in cash on the day)
