Returning for a 6th year, The Lakeland Festival of Light will be happening on the 3rd OCTOBER. The festival of light is a community effort to raise funds for a charity. We will create mountain art by lining the spine of the mountain with head torches at night.
The chosen charity for 2020 will yet again be the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dogs.
We will meet in Keswick (Rawnsley Centre CA12 5NP) at 4pm and the event will again take place on Catbells. We are walking from Keswick to Catbells. The walk to Catbells and back is a total of 5 miles on easy paths and woodland tracks. You can then walk as far up Catbells as you please – our aim is to line the entire spine of the mountain.
You will need warm clothes and your own head torch – dress for a night of standing around on a mountain!
This event is suitable for young children.. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep them under control and clean up after them.
Littering will not be tolerated. We ask that participants stick to the paths at all times to avoid unnecessary erosion.
There is plenty of parking in and around Keswick. Parking at the base of Catbells is incredibly limited and so we discourage people from parking there unless absolutely necessary (Young kids, limited mobility)
It is NOT A TICKETED EVENT, you can just turn up. We ask attendees to donate, with a recommended figure of £20 either on the night or to this JustGiving link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lfo2020
There are a series of great prizes to be won in the raffle which will be drawn at the start of the event. Raffle tickets are £2 a ticket and they can only be bought at the start of the event at the raffle stall.
