Family rally to support mum-of-one after shock cancer diagnosis at 38

Jacquie Metcalfe, 38, who lives in Kendal, is described as a devoted wife to husband Jamie and a ‘selfless mummy’ to their little girl Robyn, aged seven.

Her family say their world was turned upside down after months of repeated GP and hospital visits during which Jacquie was initially told her symptoms were due to stress, IBS or food intolerances.

She was finally given an urgent CT scan after 18 months of ongoing pain and concern, which revealed the devastating diagnosis. By the time the cancer was discovered, it had already spread.

Doctors have given Jacquie up to 12 months to live and this time scale includes two rounds of chemotherapy.

Without this gruelling treatment Jacquie’s time would be significantly reduced.

In a heartfelt appeal on the Go Fund Me page, Alice Metcalfe, Jacquie’s sister-in-law wrote: “I’m writing this on behalf of my incredible sister-in-law Jacquie. A devoted wife to Jamie and the most loving, selfless mummy to their beautiful little girl Robyn.

“Together they are the happiest of families, embracing the simple joys of life. Bedtime cuddles, Sunday dog walks and a home filled with laughter and love. But in an instant, their world was turned upside down!”

Alice continued: “This money would allow my family to make precious memories with days out and experiences on the days when Jacquie feels well enough to do so. This money would also help to reduce the financial pressure and stress from paying the mortgage, bills and everyday costs.

“Every donation, share or message of support is the strength we need during this incredibly difficult time.”
