A finalist in the category in 2024, James Maher, of Sir John Barrow School, was revealed as the winner this year with the judging panel drawn by his energy, enthusiasm and support.
Described as the teacher ever child wants, it was James’s passion for sport that set him apart, running clubs before and after school, leading teams across the county, and ensuring every child, regardless of ability, gets to take part.
From regional championships to the National Three Peaks Challenge, James goes above and beyond for his pupils. Judges were inspired by his ability to make every child feel included and excited about learning.
