When you picture a holiday worthy of a celebrity, what comes to mind? Is it beautiful surroundings, a tranquil escape from prying eyes or luxurious facilities?
Plenty of celebrities know the gorgeous natural landscapes of the Lake District provide the perfect backdrop for a glamorous getaway. It is certainly an idyllic destination; videos using the hashtag “Lake District getaway” have a huge 642.4K views on TikTok.
The lakes’ foodie offerings are also well-known, with the hashtag “Lake District food” sitting at 259.7K views. Whether you are looking for a slice of luxury or you want to try out some of the Michelin-starred restaurants in the area, take a leaf out of these stars’ books and get yourself over to Cumbria – I’d definitely recommend it.
Armathwaite Hall, luxury hotel and spa in the Lake District, takes a look at the most luxurious excursions our favourite celebrities have enjoyed in the Lake District. With this in mind, we’ve taken a look at some of the times celebs decided to swap holidays abroad for holidaying in the Lake District.
O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
Romeo Beckham and Mia Regan are well-known for their on-again, off-again relationship, but recent pictures of Mia wearing a large ring on her left hand have sparked rumours of an engagement. We are not surprised the couple is moving forward after a recent romantic glamping excursion near Keswick.
Romeo and Mia took a break from their busy lifestyles and the paparazzi cameras, choosing to stay in a stunning log cabin in a quiet location. They took the opportunity to explore the stunning natural landscape with a hike up Cat Bells, a well-known trail that hikers of most abilities should be able to handle.
Romeo shared a recap of their break with his 500,000-plus TikTok followers, which received over 324,000 views on the platform. The couple will have taken in the idyllic views of the Lake District from the top of the Cat Bells, basking in their achievement at reaching the summit. And it goes to show that adventurous escapes can be just as romantic as relaxing ones.
It is not just Romeo who loves the Lake District. His famous parents have enjoyed their own escape from reality in these stunning surroundings. David and Victoria chose to holiday in popular Windermere, no doubt spending time exploring the lake and spotting some of the wildlife.
Molly and Tommy – love in the Lakes
Molly-Mae and Tommy first met each other on reality show Love Island where they quickly became fan favourites. It is no secret they are still very much loved up, having just welcomed their first child, Bambi, in January.
The pair were spotted visiting Borrowdale last year, celebrating their last Valentine’s Day together before they became parents. As the star herself said on her Instagram, “the Lake District is one of my favourite places…so peaceful and quiet at every corner.”
And considering the serene village of Bassenthwaite was recently named the top tranquil staycation location in the UK, we have to agree. The trip was a surprise for Tommy from his girlfriend and we think she made the right decision.
The pair enjoyed luxurious treatments at a local spa, treating their combined 12.6 million Instagram followers to snaps of their beautiful surroundings.
Jack’s travels with his father
Jack Whitehall and his dad, Michael, are well-known for their hilarious travel show, Travels With My Father. The pair have been to far-flung locations, including Cambodia and Vietnam, and destinations a little closer to home, including – you guessed it – the Lake District.
The pair made the most of the stunning views, with Jack treating his dad to a cream tea and a spot of croquet. They also took on the challenge of cold-water swimming and enjoyed a walk with some llamas.
Jack’s girlfriend, Roxy Horner, joined the duo, and she revealed that she and Jack like to take their dog, Coco, on UK breaks with them.
Comedian and actor Bill Bailey loves a holiday in the Lakes with his family. The Strictly star and musician spent the evening enjoying some gorgeous food with his loved ones before staying the night in the luxurious surroundings of Keswick.
His hotel stay may have been short, but he caused quite a stir, posing with guests and staff for photos. Bill is not the only actor to feel the pull of the Lakes, with the likes of Simon Pegg and Colin Firth also enjoying meals in the area’s gorgeous restaurants.
This is not the first time Bill has sought out time away from city life in the tranquil surroundings of the Lakes. He also visited the area in 2021 when he took in the gorgeous surroundings of Ullswater.
Will you see any stars in the lakes on your next trip there? Whether you choose a luxury hotel and spa getaway, a glamping excursion or decide to adventure around the endless beautiful trails in the region, you will get the opportunity to experience a slice of the celebrity lifestyle in the most stunning surroundings.
