Lake District’s beautiful stately home gardens named best in UK

The beautiful gardens at a stately home in the Lake District have been named the best to visit in the country.

The whopping 9,500 acres of land surrounding Levens Hall in Kendal include the famous topiary garden.

Established in 1694, it features over 100 pieces of striking topiary, shaped into humans, animals, characters and other wacky designs.

A study by Easy Garden Irrigation analysed more than 30 of the UK’s most popular gardens, with the help of TripAdvisor reviews.

Alongside the topiary garden, visitors can explore the rose gardens and fine lawns to wildflower meadows and willow labyrinths, also making it one of the most Instagrammable gardens.

The Elizabethan hall itself, which reopens after the winter break on April 3, was originally constructed as a Pele Tower and built by the Redman family in 1350, before being taken over by the Bellinghams, who extended the house.
