Last chance to have your say on what makes Cumbria special

In March we launched a survey to find out what you think is the best thing about Cumbria.

There are now only a few days left to take part, before we crown the jewel of the county. Our journalists have selected a list of 25 things they think make Cumbria the amazing county we all know it to be, but you can add your own.

Maybe you know of a hidden gem, somewhere off the beaten path – or simply, you think we missed out something beautiful. Our list tries to include everything from the big landmarks, to the traditional food and big family favourites.

There is no wrong answer – you can choose a classic spot like Skiddaw or Castlerigg Stone Circle, but you can head away from the well-trodden paths of the National Park if you think Carlisle Racecourse should take the crown. Cumbria is also becoming more and more popular as a food destination.

It’s not just thanks to its traditional sweet treats, such as Grasmere’s gingerbread, but also thanks to the growing number of Michelin star restaurants – think L’Enclume in Cartmel, for instance. But without breaking the bank, there is still plenty to choose from, with lots of breweries, pubs and tea rooms dotted around the county.

Once all the votes are in, we will reveal the results to you on April 8.
