Manhunt after pedestrian shot with nail gun fired from passing car in Carlisle

Police have issued an appeal after a pedestrian was shot with a nail gun in Carlisle last night (June 4).

Officers were called to the scene on before 6.15pm after the weapon was fired from a passing car. The incident occurred on Scotland Road near the Cumbria Park Hotel.

A man, in his 20s, was shot as the vehicle headed in the direction of the city centre. Cumbria Police say the victim suffered minor injuries.

Acting Inspector Sarah Hodkinson said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in the area who may have witnessed this incident to get in touch.

“Fortunately this did not result in a serious injury, however, this does not in anyway dilute the seriousness of this incident. This sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and officers are making enquiries to identify those responsible.”
