New venue with beer pong, tech darts, karaoke and arcade games to open in Kendal

THIRTEEN, at 13 Market Place, describes itself as a ‘family run venue’ that is set to offer activities such as beer pong, shuffleboard, tech darts, karaoke and arcade games.

The new venue and bar, which sits in the same building that used to home the music venue Bootleggers, is having its official launch party from 6pm until late on March 6, its newly launched website states.

After months of speculation, the bar and venue’s new website gives the public more details about what lies within the building.

It comes after the music venue Bootleggers closed its doors to customers in May last year, leaving many wondering what might become of the site.

However, in October last year, the site adorned a fresh pink aesthetic and two small viewing holes for the public to peer through appeared on the front window.

The words “Can you keep a secret?” were written above the peering holes and a board within the building with a QR code was on show for the public to scan.

This took those who scanned the code to a Linktree page, which had links to THIRTEEN’s social media pages which had at that time no posts and an early website.

However, full details of the activities and plans for the site remained largely unknown to the public – until now.

“THIRTEEN is a new family run venue where great drinks meet great games,” said the new bar on its website.

“Challenge your mates to beer pong, shuffleboard, tech darts and arcade games – then round it off with karaoke and a whole lot of laughs.”

For its official launch party on March 6, the venue is set to welcome Kendalians for a big night of live music, games, and drinks.

Additionally, the band District 5, alongside DJs Mampi Swift and Nicky Blackmarket, are set to perform on the night.

On the tickets page for the free launch party event, organisers state: “Kendal… it’s time.

“After months of keeping things under wraps (and seeing hundreds of you asking what’s happening with the space), we can finally say it: THIRTEEN opens on Friday 6th March. Doors from 6pm, open ‘til late – and the launch party is FREE.

“THIRTEEN is an interactive socialising bar built for big nights, easy hangs, and everything in between.

“We’ve put this together for the community, a place where you can come for a drink and end up in a full-on tournament, a singalong, or a dancefloor moment you didn’t see coming.”
