The Hairy Biker died in February at the age of 66 following a two-year battle with cancer, meaning that this will be the first festive season Lili has spent without the beloved TV chef.
Lili discussed how her perspective on this time of year has changed following Dave’s death.

She said: “Nothing is going to be the same – I’ll be celebrating in a different way this year, compared to what I’ve done in the past.
“But the beauty of Christmas is that it’s a time for remembering and honouring people, which I’ll obviously be doing for Dave.
“All I know is that he’s going to be missed but that’s the case all year round.”

The couple first met back in 2005 when Lili was managing a hotel in Romania at the time the Hairy Bikers were filming one of their first series for television.
Lili shared details on the festive traditions that had grown between the pair over those 18 years together.
“Because of my home country, I’d always cook Romanian dishes on Christmas Eve to celebrate my background,” she said.
“Dave would then be in charge on Christmas Day itself, manning the turkey and everything else that goes alongside it.
“This year, obviously, I’m just going to be experiencing the Romanian side of Christmas, but that doesn’t mean that Dave won’t be involved in his own way.”

One of the ways that has helped Lili process the Christmas season is the airing of the new documentary about Dave, titled ‘The Hairy Bikers: You’ll Never Ride Alone’.
This chronicled Dave’s 25-year career as part of the Hairy Bikers, as well as the Dave Day celebrations in Barrow.
Lili branded the show as a ‘magical’ success, especially in that it kept Dave on our screens at Christmas.
