The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for rain and wind for large parts of England and Wales on Tuesday (January 2). While both Lancashire and Cumbria are not covered by the yellow alert, more heavy rain is expected to fall today.

The heaviest rain is “more likely” across parts of Wales, the Midlands towards eastern England and Yorkshire while gusts could reach 60mph in coastal areas or 40 to 50mph elsewhere, the forecaster said. Some travel disruption is likely as the heavy rain is set to fall on ground that is already saturated as it comes after recent wet weather.
