Staff members threatened with knife in Workington store robbery

An investigation is underway after a knife-point robbery at a Workington convenience store.

Two staff members had a knife pointed at them in the terrifying incident, say police.

It happened at the McColls store on Harrington Road shortly before 11pm last night (November 2) when the offender entered the shop before reportedly pointing the weapon the two employees on shift.

The offender then left the shop with a small amount of money and tobacco, heading towards Northumberland Street.

Police say the offender is described as a white male, between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 10ins and of medium, stocky build.

No injuries were reported in the incident, confirms police.

An investigation is now underway and enquiries remain ongoing.

Anyone with information or anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact the West Cumbria Crime and Safeguarding team on 101.
