Tragedy as man killed in crash that closed Cumbria road for hours

A man died when he crashed his motorbike in Cumbria today.

The man, in his 60s, crashed on the A683 at Cautley, near Sedberg, at around 11.30am with police and paramedics sent to the incident Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision and a witness appeal is now under way as police look to work out what happened. Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact officers.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “Police are investigating a fatal road traffic collision which occurred today (3 Aug) on the A683 at Cautley, shortly before 11.30am. The collision involved a single vehicle – a motorcycle.

“The motorcyclist – a man in his 60s – was declared dead at the scene. The man’s family have been informed. Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or the moments leading up to it.”
