Two dead in rural Cumbria crash

A man and a woman have died following a crash in rural Cumbria.

Cumbria Police were contacted at 7.40am today (September 5) after one vehicle has been involved in a collision on the road from Kings Meaburn towards the B6260, near Drybeck.

The vehicle, a white Citroen Berlingo van, was found off the road.

Both occupants of the vehicle, from the Wigan area, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, was from the Ashton-in-Makerfield.

The passenger was a 20-year-old woman from Golborne.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said: “Collision investigation enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“Officers appeal for anyone who witnessed a white Citroen Berlingo van in the area or have information on this incident to get in touch.”

The B6260 southbound was closed due to incident from Maulds Meaburn to B6261 West End Road.
